Deforestation rates in the Amazon rainforest continue to rise. That lung, which among its many benefits helps balance the planet's climate, rainfall distribution, and capture large amounts of carbon dioxide, continues to be destroyed at a rate of three hectares or three soccer fields per minute. Together we can plant life and hope in the Amazon.

WE PLANT NATIVE TREES

In March 2021, we signed an agreement with the "Huni Kui Indigenous People of Praia do Carapanã," located in Tarauacá, in the state of Acre. The territory that houses them contains a 61,000-hectare reserve in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Together with the Huni Kuin people, we will plant trees in deforested areas in March 2021 that are in danger of extinction. Our challenge is to plant 300 trees per month, reaching a total of 3,600 trees per year. From the start of the project in March 2021 until 2026, our achievements are 23,100 trees planted in good condition and growth.

PROJECT PHASES

In the initial phase, native and fruit trees were planted to address the nutritional deficiencies of indigenous peoples. The agreement we reached with the indigenous peoples is that, in exchange for protecting and reforesting the forest, we will meet their basic needs. The main one at present is the construction of a school, and to facilitate reforestation we have built two nurseries where we can prepare the seedlings. In this way, the indigenous people themselves have taken care of the planting from the outset.

From 2021 to 2026, 23,100 trees were planted.
