HOW DO WE DO IT?

SOWING

SOWING LIFE

The Amazon rainforest is the world's largest lung. Right now, vast tracts of virgin land are being cut down and burned to make way for agriculture, cattle ranching, mining, and industry. Join us in planting trees to create life instead of destroying it.

SPONSOR

The indigenous peoples of the Amazon rainforest live in a very delicate situation, as they find themselves between two worlds: their ancestral culture, with its own values, versus progress, with Western values. Children in indigenous territories face great challenges to survive.

WHERE WE OPERATE

COMMUNITIES REACHED

The Água Viva community is one of the central communities of the Indigena praia ado carapanã territory, where the chief of the territory lives. This is the location and the community base from which our organization operates in the territory. We have achieved great things, such as the ecological park nursery, which since its inception in 2021 until 2026 has produced 23,100 seedlings of native trees, native and cultivated fruit trees, as well as medicinal trees, which have been planted in their final locations throughout our journey in the territory.

Ecological Park and an environmental protection area declared jointly with the community and the authorities and leaders of the territory, thus ensuring the protection of the ecosystems that inhabit it and all the fauna and flora of this large reserve. In the center of the park there is a large sumaúma tree, native to the Amazon rainforest and in danger of extinction. Ritualistic activities of the community are carried out there, in addition to being a large reservoir of aromatic medicinal plants of countless ancestry.

The Morada Nova community is made up of seven families who come from the Jordao community. They are farmers and artisans who keep their culture alive. The leader of this tribe is a shaman and medicine man who studies and understands the mysteries of the Amazon rainforest in terms of medicinal herbs, prayers, and all the mysticism that surrounds the ancestral Huni Kuin culture.

The Carapanã community is the first community in the territory that holds great importance in the history of the territory. It is located exactly in the middle of the territory and has a very diverse population, including artisans, farmers, musicians, fishermen, and a symbol of resistance and strength for the territory. In 2026, we will start a nursery in this community to produce native tree seedlings.

São João da Floresta is one of the 12 tribes in the indigenous territory where the Huni Kuin culture and all its ancestral customs are preserved. All children and young people speak the Huni Kuin language. It is located in a privileged area with abundant virgin forest and biodiversity. They live in harmony with the forest and all the beings that inhabit it.

OUR PROJECTS

We, Guardianes De Vida, generate the necessary resources to promote the development of the most disadvantaged people on the planet through initiatives that enable us to offer sustainable alternatives to indigenous communities in the Amazon. Our work focuses on identifying areas for improvement in these communities in order to provide them with basic infrastructure that allows for sustainable development without being invasive in terms of health, culture, and life.

CULTURAL PRESERVATION

In an increasingly digitized world and with globalization unlike anything we have ever seen in human history, indigenous culture is about to be swallowed up by progress. If we do not devote resources to protecting and promoting indigenous culture and values, they will disappear. Culture and values of the Carapanã beach indigenous territory Indigenous peoples […]

HUNI KUIN COMMUNITY INTEGRATED HEALTH

We conducted four training sessions in the area of health with health workers from the indigenous territory. Two people from each of the 12 villages in the indigenous territory participated in each course, forming a group of 24 young future health workers from their respective municipalities. THE PROJECT The objective is to teach and train a […]

REFORESTATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Deforestation rates in the Amazon rainforest continue to rise. That lung, which among its many benefits helps balance the planet's climate, rainfall distribution, and capture large amounts of carbon dioxide, continues to be destroyed at a rate of three hectares or three soccer fields per minute. Together […]
